PPDA - FOR BUTT WELDING

Polypropylene Encapsulated Ductile Iron Flange (Butt Welding)

Stu Piping manufactures and supplies the PPDA flange, a corrosion-resistant pipe flange combining a ductile iron core with 30% glass fibre reinforced polypropylene encapsulation. Engineered for butt welding applications with PE, PP, and PVDF stub ends, the PPDA flange is a trusted flange solution across water, gas, mining, marine, and aquaculture industries.

Ideal Applications for the PPDA Flange

  • Aquaculture / fish farm piping systems
  • Water infrastructure and treatment
  • Mining piping systems
  • Gas piping applications
  • Marine piping installations

Key Benefits of the PPDA Polypropylene Flange

    • I-beam cross section for reliable structural support
    • 50% lighter than conventional flange backing rings — easier handling, lower freight cost
    • Convoluted design maintains bolt tension, reducing re-torqueing needs
    • Available from d20mm up to d1000mm
    • Safety factor of 2 for dependable pressure performance
    • Compatible with both steel and thermoplastic piping systems

    • Lower embodied carbon footprint than heavier conventional flanges

PPDA-Flanges (for butt welding)

Utilisation
For use on PE, PP, PVDF butt welding stub ends.
Materials
Glass-reinforced polypropylene (black) over ductile iron insert (GGG 40, DIN 1693)
Connecting
Drilled to EN 1092, DIN 2501 PN 10/16
Dimensions
DA 20–630: PN10/16 · DA >630: PN10
Info
Connecting dimensions (PN) and maximum operating pressure (bar) are not directly linked. For example, a PPDA flange in size DA 225 is drilled to DIN 2501/EN 1092 PN10, but rated for a maximum operating pressure of 16 bar. Stu Piping recommends the use of washers below the screw head and nut.
